Speaking အတြက္ဝါက်တိုေလးမ်ား (၁၆)

အရင္ post မွာ ဝါက်နံပါတ္ ၄၃၀ မွာရပ္ခဲ့တယ္။ ဒီမွာ ၄၃၁ မွ စလိုက္ၾကစို႔။

၄၃၁။ I had a white night last night.
ငါ မေန႔ညက အိပ္မေပ်ာ္ဘူး။
I couldn't sleep last night. လို႔ေျပာလည္းအတူတူေပါ့။
to have a white night အျဖဴေရာင္ညရတယ္...အိပ္မေပ်ာ္ဘူး...ဆိုတဲ့အသံုးေလးမွတ္ပါ။

၄၃၂။ I couldn't sleep the whole night last night.
မေန႔ညက တစ္ညလံုးအိပ္မရဘူး။

၄၃၃။ He fell asleep as his head touched the pillow.
သူက ေခါင္းအံုးေပၚေခါင္းခ်လိုက္တာနဲ႔ခ်က္ျခင္းအိပ္ေပ်ာ္သြားတယ္။
to fall asleep= အိပ္ေပ်ာ္သြားသည္

၄၃၄။ You were fast asleep when I got home.
ငါအိမ္ျပန္ေရာက္ေတာ့ မင္းက ေကာင္းေကာင္းအိပ္ေမာက်ေနၿပီ။
fast asleep= အိပ္ေမာက်ေနေသာ

၄၃၅။ I had a sound sleep.
ေကာင္းေကာင္းအိပ္ေပ်ာ္ပါတယ္။
I slept well.
I slept soundly. တို႔ကိုလည္းေျပာင္းေျပာလို႔ရတယ္။

၄၃၆။ I set the alarm at 5 a.m.
ငါနွိုးစက္ မနက္၅နာရီေပးထားတယ္။

၄၃၇။ I overslept as the alarm didn't go off.
နွိုးစက္မလာလို႔ မထႏိုင္ဘဲ ပိုအိပ္မိသြားတယ္။
alarm does not go off= နွိုးစက္မလာ
alarm goes off= ႏွိုးစက္လာသည္

၄၃၈။ Can you wake me up at 5 a.m.?
မင္းငါ့ကို မနက္ ၅ နာရီမွာ ႏွိုးပါလား။

၄၃၉။ He grabbed the mike and started crooning.
သူဟာ မိုက္က႐ိုဖုန္းကို ဆြဲယူၿပီး ဟဲေတာ့တာပဲ။

၄၄၀။ I avoid the rush hours.
ငါ ရံုးတက္ရံုးဆင္းကားလမ္းၾကပ္ခ်ိန္ကို ေရွာင္တယ္။

၄၄၁။ I hate to repeat myself.
ငါ ခဏခဏထပ္မေျပာခ်င္ဘူးကြာ။

၄၄၂။ He is thinning on top.
သူ ထိပ္မွာ ဆံပင္ပါးေနၿပီ။

၄၄၃။ Nip it in the bud.
ျပသနာကို ေသးတုန္းမွာ အျပတ္ရွင္းလိုက္ပါ။
(idiom အသံုးပါ။ to nip the problem in the bud လို႔မွတ္ပါ။ bud ဆိုတာ ပန္းအဖူးေလး။ nip ဆိုတာ လက္နဲ႔ဆိတ္တာ။ မပြင့္ခင္ အဖူးဘဝမွာပဲ ဖ်က္စီးျပစ္တဲ့သေဘာ)

၄၄၄။ I hope our paths will cross again.
မင္းနဲ႔ငါ တခ်ိန္မွာ ျပန္ဆံုၾကမယ္လို႔ေမွ်ာ္လင့္ပါတယ္။

၄၄၅။ My watch is gaining 5 minutes.
ငါ့နာရီ ၅ မိနစ္ျမန္ေနတယ္။

၄၄၆။ My watch is losing 5 minutes.
ငါ့နာရီ ၅ မိနစ္ေနာက္က်ေနတယ္။

၄၄၇။ My watch keeps good time.
ငါ့နာရီအခ်ိန္မွန္တယ္။

၄၄၈။ You are always full of excuses.
မင္းဟာ အၿမဲ ဆင္ေျခနဲ႔အျပည့္။
(ေျပာလိုက္ရင္ ဆင္ေျခႀကီးပဲ)

၄၄၉။ It's now or never.
အခုလုပ္ရင္လုပ္ မလုပ္ရင္ဒီအခြင့္အေရးဘယ္ေတာ့မွျပန္မရေတာ့ဘူး။

၄၅၀။ He is such a show-off.
ဒီေကာင္ေတာ္ေတာ္ႂကြားတဲ့ေကာင္။

၄၅၁။ I like to keep a low profile.
ငါ လူသတိမထားမိေအာင္ခပ္ကုပ္ကုပ္ပဲေနခ်င္တယ္။
keep a low profile= သိေသာ္ ရွိေသာ္လည္း ပလႊားမႈမရွိဘဲ ေအးေအးေနသည္။ ခပ္လွ်ိဳလွ်ိဳေနသည္။

၄၅၂။ He is a fraud.
ဒီေကာင္ဟာ အင္ဂုလိ။
fraud= အတုအေယာင္။ လူလိမ္

၄၅၃။ That restaurant is way over-priced.
အဲဒီစားေသာက္ဆိုင္က ေစ်းႀကီးလြန္းပါ့။

၄၅၄။ He just sat there doing nothing.
သူ ဘာမွကိုမလုပ္ဘဲ အဲဒီမွာထိုင္ေနတယ္။

၄၅၅။ He didn't even lift his finger.
ဘာကိုမွ လက္ျဖားေလးနဲ႔ေတာင္မတို႔။
(ပ်င္းလို႔ ကပ္သပ္လို႔ ဘာအလုပ္မွမလုပ္ေပး)

၄၅၆။ He is a shirk.
သူဟာ ေရသာခိုသူ။

၄၅၇။ He always shirks his responsibilities.
သူ႔ရဲ႕တာဝန္ေတြကို အၿမဲေရသာခိုတတ္ ေရွာင္တတ္တယ္။

၄၅၈။ Please do it without any delay.
ထပ္ၿပီးအခ်ိန္ဆြဲမေနေတာ့ဘဲ ခ်က္ျခင္းလုပ္ပါ။

၄၅၉။ It takes two to tango.
လက္ခုပ္ဆိုတာ ႏွစ္ဖက္တီးမွျမည္တာပါ။

၄၆၀။ This theory is beyond my understanding.
ငါေတာ့ ဒီသီအိုရီကို လံုးဝနားမလည္ဘူး။
I don't understand this theory. လို႔လြယ္လြယ္ေျပာလည္းရတယ္။ something is beyond one's understanding ဆိုတဲ့ ေကာင္းတဲ့ usage ေလးလည္းသိထားသင့္တယ္။

ေျပာေနက်အတိုင္းထပ္ေျပာလိုက္ပါရေစ......
ဝါက်ေလးေတြကို အသံထြက္ၿပီး ထပ္ခါထပ္ခါဖတ္။ အလြတ္ရေအာင္မွတ္ၾကပါ။
